Summer (noun): the season of blue skies, denim shorts, plus a golden tan.
Who could resist the call of the beach that generously offers a great escape from the BUSY world? You just have to go!
Summer is just like any other season only lazier. Studies show that productivity at work drops by 20 percent and almost half of the population reported of getting distracted in the middle of tasks. Not to mention the drop in employee attendance and kids going on summer vacation. People are getting more and more recreational during this time of year.
This ongoing phenomenon when large numbers of people act the same way at the same time has been theorized by psychologists which they have termed as “herd behavior”. We tend to follow the crowd and emulate other members of our group.
But, before you pack your bags for your next summer getaway. Let me help you put things in perspective and stay focused and productive in your business even if your subconscious is yearning for the sand and the waves and your peers are already holding their cocktail glasses.
Here’s a list of my productivity tips to help you focus on your tasks as you say hello to summer:
Don’t rush into things.
I am well aware that you’re excited to plan out the TRIP but you still got some things left on your to-do list. Don’t forget to breathe. You do not have to do everything at once. Take your time and don’t get ahead of yourself. You don’t want to mix up your summer plans with your to-do list, won’t you?
Go easy on multitasking
This is related to the first tip. Our brains can only process information effectively when we focus. With all the summer frenzy already happening around us, it is best to focus on tasks one task at a time. You do not want to waste your brain power and your precious time switching from one task to another or ruin them all at the same time and accomplish nothing. If multitasking has been a big part of your life, go easy on it even just this summer season.
Review your Business Plan
If your goals do not get you jumping out of your bed every morning, it’s time for you to review them. Get inspiration from my Business Planning Guide book.

Have an accountability partner or a coach
An accountability partner or a coach will help you focus on your goals and offer support to keep you committed especially during the lazy bouts of summer. Sometimes the outside perspective of a professional is just what you need to properly prioritize and to hold you accountable for doing the things you should be doing each day.
