Maybe you woke up, realized you were getting up later than you wanted to and jumped out of bed already feeling like you were behind schedule.  You were off and into the busyness for the day.

Is this how you planned to start your day?

Probably not.

Or maybe you woke up early, sat with a nice hot beverage, your journal and your online calendar. You reviewed your yearly and monthly goals and set weekly goals that would move you closer to them.

Then you reviewed your calendar for the day, added in important items that will move you forward with your projects and goals, scheduled in some time for self-care, working on your health or time with special people in your life.

After these 15 minutes, you feel grounded with where you are going and what needs to be done and are excited about what you will be doing today and how it will move you closer to those big dreams and goals.

Two different mornings, two totally different days that will result from those first 15 minutes.

How do you start your mornings and how do you plan for success?

If you are not hitting your goals for 2020 or feel out of balance, maybe you should examine your Daily Planning Techniques.

Planning your days may sound cliche, but it is the backbone of your success. Successful people work hard, and they also PLAN for that success.

Time is a very limited resource, and with the numerous activities on the road to achieving your goals, you need to be able to manage your time wisely.

So how do you plan your days to make the most out of your time?

Identify Your Priorities

Planning your days starts with reviewing your goals. What are your yearly, month and weekly goals that will bring you closer to that life you desire?

What do you need to do to bring you closer to these goals? Is there anything you can do today to bring you just that much closer?

If you don’t schedule important tasks to move you towards your goals, your day will get filled up with other people’s to-dos!

Organize Your Schedule

Once you’ve identified which activities you need to focus on first, it’s time to plan on when and how much time you’ll need to fulfill them.

Make sure to set realistic schedules and timeframes for your tasks. I’ve encountered many business people who’ve missed their goals simply because they targeted timeframes that were unrealistic.

I used to be one of them! My Google calendar defaults to hour hour blocks of time (actually 50-minutes so I can have a 10 minute transition time between calls and tasks) and everything I scheduled, I scheduled for one hour, no matter if it realistically would take 2, 4, or even 8 hours.

Then I would get frustrated with myself for not getting it all done!

When you schedule tasks, think about how long it will take to complete them and schedule your day appropriately.

Planning your days may seem complicated or like you don’t have the time to do it, however, planning, scheduling and time-blocking are necessary to help push you forward toward your goals.

The best part is – you don’t have to do it yourself.

A coach can help you manage your time wisely so you can maximize your time and use it as an advantage.
