You’re not the Only Mom in Town: Finding Help and Support Everywhere

by | Dec 13, 2014 | Real Estate Moms

It can feel very isolating sometimes when you run your own business. Often the moms that you meet as you pick up your children do not understand the challenges that you face on a daily basis. Your neighbors may look at you like you’re crazy when you take your laptop outside while your children play. The fact is that your life, balancing children and a business, is different. It’s different than the life of a working mom with a nine-to-five job and it is different from a stay-at-home mom’s life.
Just because it is different does not mean that you need to feel alone. There is a lot of support out there in a wide variety of forms; you just need to look for it. If your time is limited, or you live in a small town, check the internet. There are countlesssupport groups and online forums where you can meet women who face the same challenges as you everyday. Maybe you will even be able to connect with other moms in your area this way.
Another great way to meet local moms is by putting up a few signs at your local grocery stores, and community centers. You can form your own support group, maybe meeting for coffee, or even play dates at the playground. Another great way to find local women is to check with your chamber of commerce. There is a really good chance that you are not the only woman with her own business in town; all you have to do is look.
Whether you find other business-owning moms, locally or on the internet, the support that you will get from like-minded individuals is priceless! It’s a great feeling to know that you are not the only one going through the same experiences that are sometimes challenging, but the most rewarding!
If you can’t find a mom network that works for you, create your own! People in all professions know the importance of networking. How about you? Are you enjoying the support and connection you need in the most demanding career of all—motherhood? You can. Whether you’re improving the group you’re already in or starting one from scratch, developing a mothers’ group is practical, doable, and indescribably rewarding. In
